We found 58 new businesses in 28 countries that serve froyo in July. This was slightly fewer than the 61 new froyo businesses that we found in June. The United States had the most openings for the second month in a row, with eleven, followed by Australia with six and the Philippines with five.

June Froyo Openings and Closings
Froyo activity was even hotter in June than in May. We found 60 new businesses serving froyo (including froyo shops and businesses that serve froyo but are not primarily froyo shops) in 25 countries, compared to 57 new businesses in 22 countries serving froyo in May.

Yo-Chi’s Eco-Friendly Initiatives and Sustainability Tips for Frozen Yogurt Shops
We usually recognize several frozen yogurt shops on Earth Day for their eco-friendly practices, but we were so impressed with Yo-Chi that we decided to focus on just on Yo-Chi’s leadership in sustainability. Customers increasingly value businesses that care for the environment and forward-thinking shops like Yo-Chi are setting inspiring examples.
Creative Froyo Toppings, 2025 Edition
Now that we’ve covered the creative new froyo flavors that we found, we also need to share our list of creative froyo toppings. Two froyo shops, Top It Yogurt Shoppe in Snohomish, WA, US, and Yo-Chi in Australia, made the list in 2024 and 2025. Six countries are represented and the Philippines led the way with three of the ten creative toppings. Seven of the ten toppings come from Asia.
December Froyo Shop Openings and Closings
In December 2024, we found 53 new businesses serving froyo representing 24 countries. This was very similar to November 2024, when we found 52 new froyo businesses in 22 countries. The most openings occurred in Australia, with eleven, which isn’t surprising considering that the Australian summer runs from December to February. Indonesia had the second most openings, with six, followed by the Philippines with five.

Earth Day is the perfect time to reflect on the environmental impact of our daily choices, particularly in the food and frozen yogurt industry. Eco-friendly practices in froyo shops can take many forms, from sourcing ingredients locally to reduce your shop’s carbon footprint, to using biodegradable or recyclable containers and utensils. Additionally, implementing energy-efficient equipment and lighting can significantly decrease a shop’s environmental impact.
Now Trending: Acai in Australia
While acai bowls were initially perceived as a nutritious breakfast option, the perception has evolved and Australians are seeking acai as a late-night snack. Acai shops have responded to the trend by staying open later. The soft serve form of acai is more attractive and more appealing on social media. This also explains why Australian frozen yogurt shops are adding acai.
